Sometimes I forget I do this. To help motivate, here's another thing for prompts after I finish smash.
It goes like this:
using the prompts below, write a drabble (or whatever) a day for the next 30 days. find someone willing to hit you if you miss a day. look back at the end and go ‘oh! i’m a writer!’.
beginning. accusation. restless. snowflake. haze. flame. formal. companion. move. silver. prepared. knowledge. denial. wind. order. thanks. look. summer. transformation. tremble. sunset. mad. thousand. outside. winter. diamond. letters. promise. simple. future.
More to come.

Shopping
Smash journal - favorite place to go shopping
I have a ton of zumiez stickers that I could paste on this page. Once upon a time, I worked at a PacSun. We had a good time there.
Now that I'm older, and PacSun has been shut down here, I've been shopping the Target more often. Old Navy used to be an option but the quality of their clothes has diminished greatly. In fact, the last clothes I bought have shrunken enough tht they are uncomfortable. I will not shop there anymore. That's about it these days. Well, I have gotten the majority of my TX Rangers t-shirts from Academy so that must be an option now as well. :)
Yes. That's where I shop. At least for clothes. :)

Gates
I read an article today about the ambush of an American base in Afghanistan. From what i understand, they were pretty much letting anyone on base and not checking papers. This is on a base in a hostile area. I've been to bases here in the states. I've had to produce an ID for the past 10 years and its obnoxious to get friends and family on base as they fall short of asking for a blood sample to get on base. Those who let security fall short, should be ashamed of themselves and held responsible for the death of their fellow soldiers.
On that note, I'm skipping tonight's smash Can't follow something like that with a silly smash entry. Laters.

tis' the season
i skipped a smash journal entry. it was supposed to be family but you know, thats too much too soon. not ready to talk about that yet. like to be private about that sort of thing when i can.
so today's journal is "favorite season". frankly, i like them all. but thats a sissy way out. so lets go into what would be a four page layout. well, four page layout for places that have seasons other than hot, windy and cold.
winter - used to be the most favorite season and maybe it still is. i like being able to layer my clothes and wear sweaters and jackets. i love how pretty snow is when it falls and how it reflects light, especially Christmas lights. snow is fun to play in as well. used to snowboard and loved getting out and playing in the snow. its not as exciting now that i'm older and more prone to getting cold but sledding is still pretty fun. and ice skating. that was fun too. hard to believe that i used to do that. my most favorite part of the cold was the freshness after a winter snow when the skies cleared up. you would breathe in and feel the cold air go into your lungs. thats what i miss the most. breathing in the cold thin air.
spring - at some point or another, winter gets boring. i think its about one month after Christmas. i like that you can still layer clothes some days but you can start wearing short sleeved shirts and the occasional pair of shorts. the nights. i love the flowers that come out and how things start turning green. its a nice change from brown and gray (because that's what happens to winter. it starts to get ugly).
summer - summer is hot and i hate being hot. but thats what swimming pools are for. i know i shouldn't enjoy being out in the sun so much since its a major cause of skin cancer but i really love spending my whole day in the pool. i love how the days are longer and that i can wear sandals and shorts every where. i like the ice cream and snow cones and grilling while sipping on a drink. its laid back and its the time of year when we try to take trips. best memory from last summer was floating in Bear Lake, ID the entire day. too fun. had fun camping to although i think the best season for camping is...
fall - a good time of year as things start to cool down and camping becomes a more comfortable option. sure you can camp here pretty much any time of the year but fall seems to be the best. the leaves start changing so it makes for some pretty drives to work. the red and yellow leaves are brilliant. the calves in the fields are buy playing and everyone seems excited that the holiday season is just around the corner. its the time of year you dress up like a goofball and people give you candy. awesome. back home, the air becomes more crisp and clean. good things.
well, thats good for now. reasons why i like the different seasons. :) laters.

Muhaahnagna
While I am grateful to be alive, I am in no way prepared to be awake already.
Here's to hoping the day passes quickly and for once I get myself to bed at a decent hour! Good luck to you too!

smash #3 or 4
i had various random thoughts earlier today but they've slipped my mind. i do that more often than i'd like lately. i have a feeling like i should start writing things down. oh well.
smash of the day - favorite drink.
well. i have a lot of favorite drinks so to narrow it down is a bit challenging. i guess when it all comes down to it, i enjoy water. it sounds boring but its refreshing and is more refreshing than anything else out there. my next drink of choice would be a Rockstar of the lemonade/orangeade/coconut milk variety. I'm not too fond of carbonation so i avoid it when I can. unless its a Coke Zero, but thats only on weekends.something that weirds people out is the fact that i will drink my drinks at room temperature. a cold drink is good, especially on a hot day but if i have to drink that sucker from right off the shelf, then so be it. or if my drink is cold, i wrap a napkin or paper towel around it. keeps my hand from getting cold and my hand from warming up my drink.
i might be a fan of coffee. i prefer it with flavored cream and sugar unless I get it from a place that I thoroughly enjoy called Monks. They make something they call a Royal Breve which is expresso mixed with honey and half and half. you can make it a latte by mixing it with just milk but the half and half is much creamier. As of now, those are my drinks. oh and hot chocolate. Stephens hot chocolate. my mom is a saint for sending me some every Christmas. doesn't matter the flavor (except raspberry or orange. those are gross). and yeah.
There will come a day when I need to cut down on the amount of caffeine i consume. that time is getting close. its not good for you anyway. once that happens, there will be lots of water and Five Alive.
currently watching the Mid-Season Finale of the Walking Dead. oh snap. maybe now i will get some sleep on Sunday nights during the break. dude. whats with the Governor and his zombie kid? so freaky. this can be a messed up show sometimes. that guy is such a jerk. power hungry sociopath. laters.

Don't half-ass it
We were watching King of the Hill tonight. My kid copied one of the lines said, "don't half-ass it!" Awesome. I wanted to laugh but I'm a mom, so I just reminded him that wasn't something he should say. It's good advice though. Haha!
Smash entry: where I work-
Picture empty fields and a random building standing in the middle if it. That's where I work. I have a room there with desks sometimes in a row with numbers and formulas pasted on the walls There is a random print of art here and there and when the windows are open, my room is filled with light. In the mornings you can smell coffee brewing and in the afternoon my room smells from the body odor of a couple dozen kids that have come in throughout the day. Yay for hormones. It isn't much but its what we've got. It's a place where if you spend enough time there, you become family. people you normally wouldn't have much to do with, become fast friends. Right now, it's one of the best jobs I've ever had. It's a good place to be.

i hate bills
i hate the fact that i have them. i hate that i forget to pay them sometimes. i hate that i've let certain ones accumulate balances. its tempting to play the lottery just to see if i could win $425 million but its better to just put that money towards bills.
smash journal entry: weather.
the weather started out nice today. little bit breezy but not too shabby. then right after my kids showed up at my work, the temp dropped and it became chilly. i used to like chilly and then i acclimated. now its just a good reason to layer my clothes. beautiful, sunny, warm changed to cloudy, windy, chilly. hope it gets better.
laters.

smash journal #1
I'm sure you're supposed to scrapbook this but you know, I dont have anything for this right now. Maybe I'll go find another composition book. Oh wait, I have one already. I should just use that. This will be my brainstorming though. the words, and then I can do pictures in the book. word.
1st entry- MYSELF
I grew up out west. So i would include pictures of mountains and red rock country. Snowboarding and river rafting are my favorite activities. and hiking. Would post pictures of working out stuff, especially swimming. Would post some sarcastic jokes/sayings b/c I'm a bit sarcastic but hopefully not in an entirely mean way. Need math stuff. I teach HS math so I would need to include some nerdy stuff.
Art. would paste in various favorite works of art. Not so much an artist myself but I like to admire other people's work. cooking, or baking. I like both but baking is fun. Cookies are my favorite to make. baseball. my favorite team is the TX Rangers. I cheer for the SanDiego Chargers only b/c my hubby is from SoCal. Really, I should be cheering for the Broncos. And now I can since Peyton Manning is QB.
The page should have lots of color since I like to use a lot of color, which is funny b/c I wear a lot of black.
Photos. would include photos I've taken. I'm not a great photographer but I do like to take pictures of family and friends and various places I've visited.
Music. Holy cow. That should get its own page and I'm sure it will (but I haven't read over the whole challenge so I'm not quite sure) but I should at least refer to the fact that I love it and that I can also play an instrument. Maybe I won't go so in depth but that's just a brainstorm there. Ok. Well that's it for now. I have tons of scrapbooking stuff so I can play with that, perhaps sometime this upcoming week. word.

Smash journal?
I'm intrigued by this smash journal idea. Not that I'm good at this sort of thing but it could be interesting to try then maybe exchange with a good friend.
